Many people visited after the chicken parade on Saturday morning. <div>Gary is a true water-fowler who's spent his life hunting Lake Saint Clair and the Flats. He has been hand&nbsp;carving decoys for over 30 years, begining his carving career in 1970. He's as prolific in the world of gunning decoys as one can be with dozens of best of show wins to his name. A few of them at our own Puget Sound Open including winning the state Ducks Unlimited decoy contest for the past two years.</div>

<div>During this seminar, Gary will be painting a mallard drake and will be demonstrating his unique scrub-painting style that has made his decoys so attractive to judges, collectors, and especially other ducks.</div>

He is attending Feather River College in his home town, Quincy, CA.&nbsp; After completing general ed. units, he plans on tranferring to the University of Idaho or the University of Montana-Western to obtain a degree in Wildlife management, with an emphasis on waterfowl management.&nbsp; Upon obtaining a B.S. degree, he wants to work as a wildlife conservation officer or waterfowl biologist in either Montana, Idaho, or the Dakotas.&nbsp; The inspiration for this is to follow in the footsteps of his Great-Grandfather who was game warden for the state of California. This picture shows him working on a senior project at mentor, Michael Nesbit's, carving shop. Dakota completed and then donated the Ruddy decoy to the Quincy Youth Shooting Sports Association to raise money for their youth trap shooting program.</p>
